Who can join the homeschooling programme?

Our programme supports home-educated children from Year 1 to Year 11.

KS1 and KS2 cover Years 1 to 6. KS3 and KS4 cover Years 7 to 11, with an increasing focus on GCSE preparation.

When does the programme run?

Sessions run from Tuesday to Thursday, from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Biology, Chemistry and Physics are taught as part of the Triple Science pathway.

Do you accept children from non-Muslim families?

Yes. We welcome children from all faiths and backgrounds.

Muslim children receive age-appropriate Islamic Education. For non-Muslim children, this part of the programme is adapted to provide Religious Education covering different religions, beliefs, values and cultures.

What happens during the initial assessment?

The assessment helps us understand your child’s current academic level, strengths, learning gaps and areas requiring support or greater challenge.

For older students, it can also help us determine whether they are ready to begin GCSE-level study.

We discuss the findings and recommended next steps with parents.

Can you support a child who is working below the expected level for their age?

We recognise that a child’s age does not always reflect their current academic level.

The initial assessment helps us identify an appropriate starting point. We then focus on strengthening essential foundations and helping the child progress in manageable steps.

Whether we can meet a child’s specific needs will be discussed honestly with parents.

What if my child is working above their year group?

Students who demonstrate secure understanding can receive more challenging work and progress beyond the level normally associated with their age.

For older students, this may include beginning GCSE preparation or being considered for an earlier GCSE pathway.

Can students take GCSE examinations early?

Yes, where assessment evidence demonstrates that early entry is appropriate.

ISHA Academy students have sat GCSE examinations as early as Year 8 and Year 9, achieving grades 7–9.

Early entry is not guaranteed. Students must demonstrate secure subject knowledge, consistent performance, independent learning skills and examination readiness.

How do you decide whether a student is ready for an early GCSE?

We consider:

Coverage of the required subject content
Performance across several assessments
Timed examination practice
Ability to retain and apply knowledge
Independent study habits
Confidence and emotional maturity
Long-term educational goals

We discuss the evidence with parents before recommending an examination pathway.

Where do home-educated students take their GCSE examinations?

Home-educated students normally sit examinations as private candidates at an approved examination centre.

Examination boards, centre availability, entry deadlines and fees need to be considered when planning the student’s pathway.

Do you guarantee early GCSE entry or a particular grade?

No. We cannot guarantee examination entry or a particular result.

We provide teaching, assessment, preparation and guidance. Recommendations are based on the individual student’s progress and readiness.

Will I receive information about my child’s progress?

Yes. Parents receive feedback about their child’s learning, strengths, areas for development and recommended next steps.

The type of feedback provided will depend on the student’s programme and stage of learning.

How large are the groups?

We use a small-group teaching approach so students can learn alongside others while receiving tutor guidance.

Places may be available during the year. Entry will depend on availability, the student’s needs and whether there is a suitable group.
